A GROOM who saw his bride for the first time at their arranged marriage tried to drown himself because she was “too ugly”.

Kang’s friend Chan Wang said: “It was a very awkward moment for everyone.

He apologized to Na before leaving and hours later, was found face down in a river near where the ceremony was held in the city of Shiyan, China.
Bystanders called for police after seeing the man floating in the water.
Qan Tsui, 25, who took photos during the rescue, said: “He was fully clothed and floating face down in the water.
“He was unconscious and I thought he was dead.”
Policemen jumped into the water to help drag Kang out – first tying him to a line to winch him in.
Mr Tsui said: “They saved his life.”
Kang was rushed to hospital where doctors said he was in a stable condition.
He later told doctors that poor Na would have been “bad for his image”.
He said: “I feel bad about what happened but when I saw her she wasn’t what I had expected.
“My parents had arranged this and I couldn’t see any way out apart from suic1de.”
